Maynooth -The Place

Maynooth is a town located about 25km away from Dublin. And National University of Ireland Maynooth is apparently the only University here in Ireland which is located in a town and not a city.

People: Well people here are amazing.. Its so easy to get a conversation started.. People here are very much chilled out.. Many Irish friends in my lab.. When on the street every random stranger will smile and say 'Hi'.. That's so wonderful and especially at the beginning of the day, makes you feel so good..

Cars/Bikes/Buses/Trains: You get to almost every other brand of car here.. Haven't seen any of the Italian Supercars though.. Dublin should have a few.. Its raining BMWs, Mercs, Audis and Prados.. My house owner, she goes around in a Prado herself.. VW, Honda, Citroen, suzuki if different shapes and sizes.. Also saw a Tata Safari (in Galway), and the good old Zen, the swift and Alto selling under the Suzuki brand name.
Bikes, well considering the Irish weather, not many as compared to some of the other European Cities/Countries.. Spotted a GSXR, Many BM Tourers, Triumph, and a few cruisers(think they were Suzuki/Honda.. Lots of people use cycles and its so much fun to walk too..
Pedestrians and cyclists are given importance.. Apart from having a path for them, its at crossings where unlike India where you risk your life running across, here you can do so at the press of a button.. Every car comes to a halt.. Lets you cross.. People also slow down for you to cross even if its not a crossing as such.. Nobody, yes absolutely nobody honks.. Its so different from the scene in India.. People honk only to show that the other car/driver actually made a mistake, like cutting across.. It is supposed to be a very rude thing.. Also people wave hands or flash lights to acknowledge other drivers who have let them go/cross.. Nobody seems to be in a hurry.. At nights you sometime get to hear the music from the free flow exhaust of their cars.. Some college kids with their cars done up..
Buses are another fun thing to be in.. The double decker ones around Dublin are so much fun.. The drivers are very friendly and people normally thank the driver when they get off..
Train journey from Maynooth to Ireland was also quick and nice..

Pubs/Beer: The Guinness beer is very famous around the globe (I personally din't like it).. Drinking is so much part of their culture.. I guess the best way to socialize here in Ireland is over beer..Few bars/pub around the Maynooth.. Like O'Neills or the Roost or Brady's..

Food: Bread/Bun is part of every meal here.. Sandwiches, burgers, rolls, with different sauces and meat..
A Typical Irish Breakfast include:
Toast, brown bread, cereal, juice, milk/tea/coffee, egg, ham, sausages, cherry tomatoes.. (Ate this for a week while I was at the B&B)
